I have this weird, yet comforting feeling that this year will be the start of something new. It’s going to have to happen sooner or later, and to be honest breathing air into dead genres such as Punk, Electro and Disco wont be the way forward. We need some new music talent up and coming, but nowadays people are into certain genres and only want to contribute, or listen to those genres.
The music industry is so controlled by record companies it’s unbelieveable. These purpose built bands are ruining the promising musical sides of many children from day one, and something has to be done about this. Its true people cannot help producing music from their roots and influences, but surely its highly impossible for one person to only listen to, and only enjoy one music genre. Its Naive. And its causing popular music to come to a standstill. We need a source of music that’s not for a certain type of people, but for everyone. A type of music that’s promising, stands and delivers. We can hope for change, but until then.. lets limbo

Cool beans
This is a very interesting point to make and I thought I’d leave a comment to address it, Dan (Leady58).
To any quick-browsing web surfer then this topic has the appearance of a rant, but I know you well enough to see that is much more and I’d like to offer some advice.
I will be brief and I will use notes, so simplified a Pigeon could understand.
Either, create your own blend of music and brand it a new genre. This is obvious.
Or, listen to ‘The Mars Volta’. They’ve released a new album (on the 29th January) and it’s ace. It’s Jazz-rock that will take you to another realm.
This was a hollow task.
I can FEEL the control that your talking about, thats why I love unsigned bands or bands that have just been signed. Then every once in a while you’ll meet musicians that just don’t let that record company pressure influence them. Good post!
